rather unfortunate

On a day where one can remember the great sacrifices of those who braved death on D day, a time where we should recognize those heroic efforts, and to remember that those efforts shouldn't be only remembered once a year, it is rather unfortunate that there needs to be opportunists, usually those who never put their lives in harm's way, to use this day to further their self serving political agendas.

This should be a day where such pettiness should be put aside, and the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice be respected.
