On Saturday (or in this case, Sunday)
Hardcover? Or paperback?
I have absolutely no preference. If I want a book bad enough, I'm happy to purchase the hardcover. I also have a bunch of paperbacks that I buy just because they're cheap and I might want to read them someday. Right now, in my to-read pile, I have some paperbacks, some lusted over hardcover books and some random review copies.
Illustrations? Or just text?
I like illustrations in kids books. Like Olivia The Pig and Henry and Mudge and Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka. But illustrations in "big kid" books just seem sort of condescending to me. I do enjoy a nice illustrated kiddie book, though. They make me happy.
First editions? Or you don’t care?
I don't care at all. Doesn't matter in the least to me.
Signed by the author? Or not?
I love me some signed books. They make the book seem more special and personal. Especially if it's personalized to ME. I do have quite a few signed books (Stephenie Meyer, Meg Cabot, John Green, and some random ones) and I will never ever get rid of those books, no matter how old or out-dated they become. They're sort of like treasures to me.
